Working across the pond

The architecture firm of Berger Devine Yaeger, Inc. (BDY) architects will serve as program manager on a 50,000-seat stadium in Lansdowne, Ireland. The project is expected to open in December 2009.

Carl Yaeger, AIA, principal of BDY and program manager on the project, said the new stadium will cost nearly €300 million ($425 million) to build, will include 64 corporate boxes and 8,000 premium seats, as well as “substantially improved” behind-the scenes facilities for players and spectators.  The stadium will be home to the IRFU (The Ireland Rugby Football Union) and the FAI (Football Association of Ireland) and will be used as the national stadium for both teams.

BDY has received awards for project innovation including work on the 2000 Olympic Arena in Sydney , Australia , and Sprint’s World Headquarters in Overland Park .
