Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception

BDY has been involved with planning renovations to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception for over ten years as various efforts were pursued. In March of 1997, a thorough study of the existing conditions was completed. BDY was then involved with a design team that provided an overall master plan for the site in cooperation with Bishop Boland, the Cathedral Renovations Steering Committee, and local focus groups. Subsequently, BDY was commissioned to design a complete exterior restoration of this historic building. The restoration includes a re-gilding of the Cathedral’s gold dome; cleaning, repair and re-pointing of all exterior masonry; and lead abatement of all exterior painted metal. The total project cost was $1,257,000.
